What a Weekend

A weekend filled with exciting things to tell you about.. but first i gotta do some work.

so friday i was able to spend the whole day with my mentor and friend Steve, it is rare we are able to spend the whole day together, but it is always good even if some of it was work. He has the character and integrity i want my life to emit, and also is the one who helped me get hooked on reading, not that i didn't know how, but i just never did. which isn't any better than not knowing how. at about 6 i went to a wedding rehearsal for a some friends of mine. i wasn't invited but these folks, this family have opened up and accepeted me as a part of thier family. They are litterally the closest nit family i have ever seen, also an example of what i want to lead my family to. Being a family and hanging out as a family and loving like a family should isn't just something they do, it is who they are and they are loving and accepting and will open up and treat anyone as if they were their own brother. It is a beautiful picture of the family and how God intended it. i don't remember what i did late friday evening, and i completely should, but saturday and sunday were jam packed with stuff, and it is just too much to remember everything

satuday oh glorious saturday.
i slept in until 10, which isn't horribly late, but it was some good sleep
1 o'clock was the wedding it was a great ceremony and lots of laughs and fun... we wired the horn of thetruck to where when you put the truck in reverse, the horn would go off. as well as the typical tying random things to the back bumper for them to drag around, and (something that worked suprisingly well, and i never thought it would) some folks jacked up the rear end of the truck and placed Watermelons underneath the tires when they put the truck in drive the tires spun inside the watermelon and wouldn't go anywher.. it was quite humerous. After the wedding the couple left for their honeymoon, and we went and stole their boat, a nice bayliner with an inboard moter, and took it out to the neches river. i like being drug behind a boat on an innertube.. it is fun we found bridges to jump off of, and just cruised the river in a boats... we had two out there an awesome day. Boating feels like true freedom. it was one of those days of spending time with friends with the sun shining bright and the warm texas air blowing in your hair.. everything was right in the world and an unaverage day where God showed himself to all of us in the normalcy of life.

now to sunday
after going to bed @ 2am i woke up at 7 am to head to houston For Ecclesia Houston. Robbie Seay is an amazing worship leader. the atmosphere was relaxed and you could tell there was something different about the place. Cris Seay's sermon was very very short, and it was really more of what he got out of the first chapter of 1st timothy. but the whole service lasted 30 minutes.. my friend josh had heard of another church in houston from a preacher friend of his, and boy was that a mistake. The pastor at the second church spoke from joshua chapter 7 which is right after the isralees have conquered jericho, and akan stole from God out of the treasures of the city.. the pastor takes that verse and turns it into a sermon about baggy clothes and backwards hats and God Cursing your Children. i don't know about you, but i believe if a preacher is going to stand up and yell about something he needs to be sure that what he is yelling about is actually in the bible and not something he made appear in the bible. i can see how he could twist that scripture the way he did, but in doing so he made himself look like an idiot. it is rediculous how a church located in the 4th largest city in the country can be so far behind the culture around them that they don't relate to anyone around them.

it was a beautiful weekend even with the wierd church so i am not even going to focus on it just because it was too good.. i know i wasn't very spiritual minded today, but it was an exciting weekend for me and i am really really tired. so i am not thinking well right now.. i got an hour left of work and then i will try to drive home withhout falling asleep
