So, I am finally going on my first mission trip to mexico.. (I used to own a crappy christian Ska cd tht the title track was called mission trip to mexico. Not prophetic, just brought it up.)* I am extremely pumped. I think the biggest thing that fires me up, is that this trip will be dangerous. Not only are we going to Mexico City, but to the very center of Mexico city in a place called Tepito. Just a couple of words from Wikipedia.org about it: it (Tepito) is also known for being home to dangerous gangs and criminals. Many consider it a dangerous place to visit. It is often called "el barrio bravo de Tepito", (which can be roughly translated as: "the Tough Neighborhood of Tepito"). Yeah.. It has a bit of a reputation. I have heard stories of previous mission trips to this place, and some crazy things have happened. We will be going to the Shrine of the Santa Muerte where just last week the missionary that we will be with, was with a group from New York, and robbed at knife point. (This in no way is saying that people from New York are sissies,) ** But I am excited because immediately after that near death experience, God made Himself known to those around. Bystanders came up after seeing the specticle, and asked Jonathan Murdock the missionary if everything was okay... His answer, "of course it is, we are about to have church." I am ready to see God move. Tepito is ready for Jesus to reveal Himself to them. I would like to be the catalyst.
