You lift my battered soul,

"You lift my battered soul, you mend my broken wings together" bravesaintsaturn

battered and broken is the condition of humanity, 
yet we all think we can take care of things on our own. 
yeah i know i have rambled about self and selfishness so much 
but if you really want to get down and dirty, 
it is the root of every single problem, sin, and messed up relationship we have. 
When Adam and eve fell 
Satan tempted them with the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life. 
he said see the shiny apple, it Looks good to eat. then he told them it would satisfy thier hunger just as good as any other fruit in the garden.. 
then the real kicker he said It will make you equal with God himself. 
When Jesus was tempted in the desert after the 40 day fast the same three temptations were thrown out there. 
and every temptation we are tempted with ultimately falls in to one of those three categories.. why because Satan knows that we love ourselves. 
he knows that you talk to us enough about us and we start to believe it. 
People who are very prideful, think them Selves to be too good, 
People with low self esteem.. well the words speak without me having to. 
Letting Christ be your identity is the only hope ,  
Most people ask that God give you the identity, but that means that you have it.. 
when god is your identity/strength/hope/love/everything, 
you have no part in it. it takes self out. 
How do we fix this overwhelming addiction to selves? 
i haven't got it figured out completely yet. 
yeah i have theories, and in theory they work, 
but in theory so does communism.. 
the human element changes those theories to be very improbable. 
so we go through this life battered and broken, 
and the only fix is Christ
